DESKTOP ICONS, 2022

series of oil & acrylics on canvas and digital elaborations printed on metal

STORY

The computer is getting old. Don’t get me wrong, it still works, it’s just getting a bit confused. It’s like it’s trying to tell something. Some icons with weird names showed up in the desktop. The movie folder must be leaking, I found myself featuring in some old noir movie and Elvis appeared in my vacation photos. Anyway, it’s kind of funny, I am sure you’ll find some use for it. Let me just delete everything and it’s yours.

PROCESS

I started by exploring images from a personal archive of photos, internet searches and film stills I usually take of the scena madre, the money shot, of movies I like.

I then reasoned on how these different images become mental icons, small hieroglyphs of a visual language that lives only in my mind, and used them to create new stories.
