Artist Statement

My art practice is inspired and driven by representations of "identity" and "identification" where real life plays against the imaginary through the lens of philosophical, physical and psychological processes.

My approach is interdisciplinary and multimedia, favouring traditional painting, video, fashion, digital art and writing.

I initially practised these media outside of their use in the art sphere, working in screenwriting, television production and fashion. These experiences have informed my practice and my interest in the complex connections between different disciplines, their boundaries and their intersections.

Writing is very important to me. My process starts by writing personal accounts, reflections, imaginary characters and stories. These notes guide me in the image-making process, and by the end they are transformed into narrative accompaniments to the artworks, which I call their “story”.
